Undeniable.  Life<br>\nand not life, without disguise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everywhere a billion rocks,<br>\nthe kind that wait for gulls<br>\nto drop clams into broken shells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or raptors to open a turtle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or a simple stumble<br>\nto open a skull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Innocent anvils, just there,<br>\njust waiting for whatever use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sun likes to count them:<br>\nall there, all there, it says<br>\neach hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I squeeze them into photos.<br>\nAn inventory of places.<br>\nNext visit might be a park<br>\nor a parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For now, I like them exactly<br>\nfor what they don&#8217;t say.<br>\nA casual existence<br>\nindifferent to discoverers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So little<br>\nand so much.
