She is a life long resident of the Monongahela river valley of Pennsylvania. The collapse of the steel industry, subsequent deterioration of the of the surrounding neighborhoods as well as the rivers themselves serve as inspiration for her poetry. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:23px\"><br>Shopping list<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She had beautiful penmanship (something <br>\nI\u2019ve always lacked)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I thought as I looked at her<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shopping list:<br>\nPudding<br>\nHot dog relish<br>\nBananas (two, ripped from the bunch) <br>\nReader&#8217;s digest<br>\nJumbo<br>\nEtc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Me,  hurried and slightly annoyed <br>\nafter work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discarding the shopping list in the <br>\nbuggy, continuing with the minutiae<br>\nof my, oh so important life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>later when she&#8217;s gone <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m always looking for those <br>\nshopping lists with her lovely handwriting <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>when my hands touch the cold handle of any shopping cart.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>M.L.
