She was born in Mainland, China and raised in Mexico and the U.S. World literature and theatrical performances became dominating forces during her linguistic training at various educational institutions. Huang possesses a unique global perspective of the past, present, and future of Latin America, the United States, and China. She is an MFA candidate from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and has authored one chapbook and three poetry collections. Her surrealist poem \u201cNight Lullaby,\u201d was a Ruth Stone Poetry Prize finalist. &#8220;Crustacea&#8221; another of her surrealist poems, was nominated Best of the Net in Priestess &amp; Hierophant. In addition, Huang&#8217;s book-length poetry collection, Saffron Splash, was a finalist in the CSU Poetry Center&#8217;s Open Book Poetry Competition. Her newest poetry collection, A Shaft of Light, is set to come out in 2019. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:23px\"><br>Imagined Life<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To wrap your eyes up and close<br>\nUnder a spot of our moon,<br>\nTo straighten and to sing<br>\nTill the dark night has come<br>\nNow run at warm morning<br>\nUpon a small hill<br>\nWhile day goes by swiftly,<br>\nBright like you\u2014<br>\nThat is your imagined life!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To wrap your eyes up and close <br>\nUnder a spot of our moon,<br>\nSing! Swirl! <br>\nTill the dark night has come.<br>\nRun at warm morning<br>\nA small, ample hill<br>\nDay going swiftly<br>\nBright like you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:23px\"><br>Stars<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You see that you should know<br>\nPoems meaningful as stars. <br>\nStars whose energy blink is reign  <br>\nupon the galaxy\u2019s swirling milky-way; <br>\nStars that wander at humans all night long<br>\nAnd bow lingering eyes to watch over them; <br>\nStars that exist only in wintry cities<br>\nA funnel of holiday lights in between their toes; <br>\nAgainst whose shadow their light has shone; <br>\nWho publicly dance in and about the snow. <br>\nPoems are not taken by folks like you, <br>\nAnd Goddesses rear stars as if their own.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ann Huang is an author, poet, and filmmaker based in Newport Beach, Southern California.
