Closets, a Quatorzain<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These closets hide clothes for every weather\u2014
\noilskins and sheer cotton, spandex, Polartec,
\nshort skirts to wriggle out of, velvet robes to throw off,
\nlong-ago furs with their malodorous politics, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

tucked away in cedar. Here are summer dresses
\nlike migrating butterflies, now in the South America
\nupstairs, but ready to flit down at
\nthe first Spring balm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choose your cover. Do not be troubled
\nby winter\u2019s stiff-backed satins, sober twill.
\nLet Chiffon have its own wardrobe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each fabric has a code, inclines a lover to settle
\nan errant palm there or there, rough to smooth
\nover that luscious fabric
\n                                                        you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Menu<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019re a bonbon, a
\nlamb roast, a steamy
\nthick soup, glistening
\nwith all the oils I
\nnow know to be so
\nbad for my heart. I\u2019m
\ngarlic. Let me rub
\nup against you. I\u2019m
\ncardamom. Let me
\nseason you. I\u2019m no-
\nthing nourishing. With
\nyou, I\u2019m the hunger
\nand the emptiness
