\nsome Endust, frames from
\nthe discount store<\/p>\n
I do not think you notice
\nhow I fall
\non our bed
\nmy hair unwashed
\nas it has been for days<\/p>\n
just a few fixes here and there
\nyou say, our home could be
\nbeautiful<\/p>\n
but as our cabinets improve
\nI break a little more<\/p>\n

the swelling floorboards
\n& dusty rafters
\nnot family heirlooms
\nbut trinkets from past loves
\nor lives we might have led
\nimagined tickets stubs
\n& dried bouquets<\/p>\n
not to exclude the aroma
\nof passion flower perfume
\nsnaking through the vents
\nor the hollow notes of a violin
\nthat is played without passion<\/p>\n
I think we feel these things
\nas we rise, eat, go to work,
\nclean the house, fall asleep
\nbefore we have a chance

but what can be done?
\nthe attic is overflowing
