Visit <a class=\"sbm-text link link-color accessible-link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jacquelinejules.com\/\" target=\"linked\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.jacquelinejules.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>The Fisherman\u2019s Wife<\/h3>\n<p>Not satisfied<br \/>\nwith the cottage<br \/>\nthe fish conjured<br \/>\nin place of a shack,<br \/>\nshe requested a castle.<\/p>\n<p>Luxury not enough,<br \/>\nshe demanded power.<\/p>\n<p>We all know<br \/>\nwhere her greed ended\u2014<br \/>\nin the hovel where she began.<\/p>\n<p>But what is the warning for me?<\/p>\n<p>Not to ask too much if by chance<br \/>\nI meet a magic fish?<\/p>\n<p>Or to remember that cottage or castle,<br \/>\nthere is always someone with more.<\/p>\n<p>And if I lose sleep<br \/>\nover what I do not have,<br \/>\nI will never rest again.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Wabi-sabi<\/h3>\n<p><em>Wabi-sabi, the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Purple stain on the couch.<br \/>\nBroken latch on the back gate.<br \/>\nSuspicious spot on an MRI.<\/p>\n<p>Can a Jewish woman<br \/>\nmarried to worry<br \/>\nlearn wabi-sabi?<\/p>\n<p>Can she admire the character<br \/>\nin the cracked coffee mug,<br \/>\npress her lips against<br \/>\nthe cool ceramic, unafraid<br \/>\nof the jagged chip on the rim.<\/p>\n<p>My blemished cup<br \/>\nstill holds warm liquid.<\/p>\n<p>A thin line shows<br \/>\nsomething broken<br \/>\nwas repaired.<\/p>\n<p>Beauty mark, not flaw.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jacqueline Jules is the author of three chapbooks, Field Trip to the Museum (Finishing Line Press), Stronger Than Cleopatra (ELJ Publications), and Itzhak Perlman&#8217;s Broken String, winner of the 2016 Helen Kay Chapbook Prize from Evening Street Press.
