He holds an MLA from Houston Baptist University, where he founded the student literary magazine Writ in Water, and he&#8217;s currently the editor-in-chief of Rune Bear, a magazine devoted to the strange and speculative. Desmond White lives in Sugar Land, Texas, with his wife and her two cats and the two thousand strays she feeds by the car.<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><em>Cuidado<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><em>A d\u00f3nde vamos?<\/em>\u00a0she says<br \/>\nas he walks to her.<br \/>\nBut he is not a train coming to station.<br \/>\nThere\u2019s something weird<br \/>\nin his eyes<br \/>\nand his feet are aimed<br \/>\nto take him past her.<br \/>\nHe is a train in passing.<br \/>\nThis station\u2014quarantined.<br \/>\nYellow ribbons of\u00a0<em>Cuidado, Cuidado, Cuidado<\/em><br \/>\nwrap her breasts;<br \/>\n<em>abandonada<\/em>\u00a0stamps her head.<\/p>\n<p><em>A d\u00f3nde vas?<\/em><br \/>\nshe says<br \/>\nbefore a black bottle<br \/>\nwhich reads:<em>\u00a0Tratar con cuidado<\/em>,<br \/>\nwhich reads:\u00a0<em>No poner en los ojos<\/em>,<br \/>\nand in sober black:<br \/>\nSulfuric Acid<br \/>\n(<em>\u00e1cido sulf\u00farico<\/em>)<br \/>\nbefore this bottle appears in his hand,<br \/>\nor maybe it was always there.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Desmond&#8217;s prose and poetry has appeared in the Tishman Review, HeartWood, Theme of Absence, and Whatever our Souls.
