“As long as he’s not making the drinks, could you put a little more bourbon in mine?” asked Frank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“How’s Rayette?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Don’t ask, Mel.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Is she talking to you ever since you smashed in her window?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“No. I haven’t heard a thing.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Two months, huh? And not one of her usual putdowns?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Right.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mel sipped the bourbon and water that Sylvia pushed his way. “I always thought she was a little strange,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The whole family’s odd, if you ask me. Her brother’s even stranger.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“You mean Otto?” questioned Sylvia, who took some interest while wiping the counter with a rag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Yeah, Otto.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“What’s the matter with him?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Frank made a sour face. Was it the drink or the reminder of Rayette’s younger brother? “Otto\u2019s still talking to me,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
