His fianc\u00e9 calls him Taco.<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>First Dance<\/h3>\n<p>It looms<br \/>\nLike Medusa,<br \/>\nRiddled in<br \/>\nBlack tulle,<br \/>\nEnormous at the<br \/>\nEnd of<br \/>\nSummer<\/p>\n<p>A hanging ghoul<br \/>\nTo pass through\u2014<br \/>\nIce already<br \/>\nPricks my<br \/>\nChest<\/p>\n<p>Day of:<br \/>\nThe only eyes<br \/>\nI see<br \/>\nAre the 100<br \/>\nReflected<br \/>\nIn yours\u2014two orbs<br \/>\nChocked with<br \/>\nTarantulas. Let us<br \/>\nCombust,<br \/>\nGod<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll waltz<br \/>\nAs one in<br \/>\nThe sanctity of<br \/>\nOur own private<br \/>\nBurn ward\u2014<br \/>\nLaden<br \/>\nWith Vicodin,<br \/>\nTwo arched<br \/>\nWillows<br \/>\nStaggering to<br \/>\nRadiohead<br \/>\nAnd a<br \/>\nSteady<br \/>\nBeep.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Touch of Gray<\/h3>\n<p>As flurries<br \/>\nCake, trees<br \/>\nGrow cords<br \/>\nOf gray<\/p>\n<p>Pantless, I watch<br \/>\nThe massive<br \/>\nDeadheads<br \/>\nSway.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Summer Cat<\/h3>\n<p>The long days smear themselves like<br \/>\nSunshine across my face,<br \/>\nCarving wrinkled canyons and<br \/>\nSculpting carcinoma<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve endured the northeast\u2019s<br \/>\nWild winters for a peek<br \/>\nAt glorious gold, only to<br \/>\nBe slapped with rash,<br \/>\nSerenated by disembodied voices<br \/>\nWhile napping indoors.<br \/>\nWhen I stir awake, the cats<br \/>\nAnd I blink at each other<br \/>\nUntil our bellies<br \/>\nCrave crackers\u2014<br \/>\nProvide objective<\/p>\n<p>Dozing and eating\u2014<br \/>\nI am a summer cat,<br \/>\nBound to home<br \/>\nNever to tan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Stray Song<\/h3>\n<p>Its swampy song<br \/>\nClambers through my window,<br \/>\nRounding both of my cats<br \/>\nFrom slumber,<br \/>\nInviting them<br \/>\nTo screw<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re fixed,\u201d I inform the<br \/>\nStray, bare-bellied, barely buzzed,<br \/>\n\u201cThere ain\u2019t nothin\u2019 in them\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All three are undeterred<br \/>\nBy this\u2014what I deemed\u2014<br \/>\nUseful information. Still<br \/>\nThey stare\u2014a standoff.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the vagrant hopes<br \/>\nA certain melody<br \/>\nWill regenerate<br \/>\nOvaries and testes<br \/>\n(Not sure how the<br \/>\nStray swings)<\/p>\n<p>Either way, its got<br \/>\nA better shot<br \/>\nAt love<br \/>\nThan most.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>MemorBrie<\/h3>\n<p>Ah, cheese\u2014<br \/>\nSuch variant goodness,<br \/>\nSo dear to us<br \/>\nWe utter her<br \/>\nMouth-watering<br \/>\nMoniker<br \/>\nWhile photos<br \/>\nFlash\u2014<br \/>\nGlommed onto<br \/>\nMemories<br \/>\nThrough lippy<br \/>\nSmiles.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Unmade Man<\/h3>\n<p>Always thought I\u2019d be further<br \/>\nBy now,<br \/>\nHad dreams of psychology<br \/>\nAnd piles of sex and boats, office<br \/>\nExploding swarthy wood<\/p>\n<p>Was it ever realistic, for faces<br \/>\nAlways haunted me\u2014<br \/>\nThe slightest brashness<br \/>\nEqualed sleepless nights,<br \/>\nWhat-if-they\u2019re-right\u2019s,<br \/>\nMeaning of truth,<br \/>\nHatred,<br \/>\nLove\u2014<br \/>\nBut all the kinds<br \/>\nDisassociated<br \/>\nWith success.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rich Glinnen is a market researcher by day and a writer by night.
