a stowaway
\na house in flames
\narms outstretched
\nto embrace the sins
\nof the conflagration<\/p>\n

I feel you whisper
\nyour divine absolution<\/p>\n

you who only could
\nknow my need for fire<\/p>\n

for the surprise
\nthe pleasure of the burn<\/p>\n

Chapter 7<\/h3>\n

You knew things weren’t well
\nwhen your lawyer slipped you the tongue.
\nHis chihuahua humped your leg.
\nYou looked down and noticed
\nthat the dog’s spot pattern resembled
\nthe Cayman Islands.<\/p>\n

I Will Always Associate Almonds with You<\/h3>\n

the feel of peach
\nblossoms under my fingers
\nI caress your skin.
\nThe fragrance of almonds
\nalerts me, my body reacts
\nwithout a thought I kiss you
\nand I am better for that act<\/p>\n

Laconic<\/h3>\n

I sit here
\nbeside you
\nand not scream
\nat the world
\nhow the merest
\nflick of your pen
\nover paper
\nmakes me want
\nto kiss the back
\nof your neck
\nwhile I read
\nthe words
\nI\u2019m sure are about
\nsomeone else<\/p>\n

Last night, a backbird flew

The Sandman Screws Up Again<\/h3>\n

Third time this week.<\/p>\n

Tonight I fly
\nand below me
\nworms stand at attention
\nhalf out of the ground
\nand wave, ripe, in the wind.<\/p>\n

Boy, do they look good.<\/p>\n

Tremor<\/h3>\n

your hand on my cheek<\/p>\n

a drop of rain
\nmoves to the edge of the leaf
\ngathers, falls<\/p>\n
