He is the recipient of two Honorable Mentions from Glimmer Train and has had work nominated for The Best Small Fictions. A self-proclaimed Big Lebowski devotee, he lives in Fort Collins and loves White Russians and listening to Tchaikovsky. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:23px\"><br>We Are Romanovs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My older sister Nancy and\nI declared ourselves Romanovs after Dad\u2019s constant berating. I was too much of\na dreamer, she was too much of a smart-aleck, foul-mouthed. We looked uncannily\nlike Mother. Of course, Dad was a foul-mouthed drunk, a failed actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nbecame Romanovs, comported ourselves with grace. We confiscated Dad\u2019s beer,\nissued edicts to Dad. Edicts demanding respect, to be addressed as \u201cyour\nimperial highnesses.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nresult? More yelling, but beneath it, fatherly bewilderment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nplayed Romanovs in school, people laughed, pointed.
