Degree from The College Of Saint Rose <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:23px\"><br>Doctor Calm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Fret and Scurry&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; (Find new Doctor)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toxic world, hazardous too, want to live,\nmust stay cool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to my wife it is hard to find a\ngood Doctor, &#8220;Most won&#8217;t take on any patients new.&#8221;&nbsp; If you do get one though, he&#8217;ll be\navailable&#8230; through and through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good Doctor never panics, always is\ncool, with that reassuring smile&nbsp; forever\nemits,&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8220;May I help you?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When my previous Doctor retired, his\noffice sent me the news.&nbsp; In that letter\nwere two&nbsp; candidates;&nbsp; I must now choose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From addresses on that page polar\nopposites&nbsp; appeared.&nbsp; One within the newer suburb of town,&nbsp; the other, older blocks feared.&nbsp; Probably, brashly dressed, young and new,\nversus&nbsp; that second;&nbsp; a seasoned and saged tried and true.&nbsp;&nbsp; Experience&nbsp;\nis valued,&nbsp; we always knew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parking near that littered curb,&nbsp; up creaky paint-chipped steps I move.&nbsp; Hoping this practiced Doctor will have that\nsmile,&nbsp; and convincingly greet,&nbsp; &#8220;May I help you?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <br>II)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Repose and Happy&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; (found new Doctor)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the welcome sight of that\nold-fashioned waiting room, in enters the grey-templed Doctor, white coat\nstarched and cleaned.&nbsp; When I saw him, of\ncourse I gleamed.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I knew;&nbsp;\nthankful, our healthy Doctor-patient relationship grew.&nbsp; A good Doctor never&nbsp; panics,&nbsp;\nalways is cool, with those words we rely on,&nbsp; paternally inquires, &#8220;May I help\nyou?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He maintains that ability to turn\ninsurmountable mountains&nbsp; of medical\nfears and shrills into just everyday and ordinary ho-hum ant hills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Always enlightens too,&nbsp; I learn each symptom is a temporary\ninconvenience; nothing major requiring medical research.&nbsp; &#8220;Phewwh!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good Doctor of course reassures.&nbsp; When you find yourself in the hospital,&nbsp; hopefully there is&nbsp; one on all tours.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His&nbsp;\noptimisim lowers blood pressure be told.&nbsp;\nI&#8217;m convinced he could do that for each patient on the globe.&nbsp;&nbsp; Calming the masses&nbsp; could put world strife on hold!&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why can&#8217;t all physicians be like my\nDoctor?&nbsp;&nbsp; I&#8217;m thinking&nbsp; you met that gifted one Pure. Where do\nthese&nbsp; super helpers&nbsp; come from?&nbsp;\nI wonder who&nbsp; their special\nold-world parents were.&nbsp;&nbsp; Generations\nhave benefited from&nbsp; weathered,\nsteady&nbsp; hands on&nbsp; mother earth&#8217;s&nbsp; tiller,&nbsp;\nSure!&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;\ngood Doctor never panics, always is cool, with predictable smiles,\nforever&nbsp; assuages , &#8220;May I help\nyou?&#8221;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once more wall charts and decanters of\ncotton ball,&nbsp; another year later that\nanxious lull.&nbsp;&nbsp; Approaching steps on the\nfloor, now that knock on examining room door.&nbsp;\nTime to face those results he will deliver, always will be his support\nin my&nbsp; quiver. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; III)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Fret and Scurry repeated&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; (Find new Doctor)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now his fully grey hair confirms rumors he\nmay be retiring by next time.&nbsp;&nbsp;\nConcerned, do I have just one more heavenly &#8220;May I help you?&nbsp; chime?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He opens your file to familiarize himself\nwith your needs.&nbsp;&nbsp; He whispers aloud last\nyear&#8217;s notes:&nbsp; &#8220;In good health and\n151 pounds, it reads.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Oh no Doctor, I must have been 171\npounds.&nbsp; I have not been 151 since my\nhigh school&nbsp; days&nbsp; back in the sixties.&nbsp; Perhaps your assistant made an inadvertent\npencil slight, she have might?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;\ngrimace fearful of persecution past loudly spittles out, &#8220;NO!, &nbsp;YOU WERE 151!&#8221;&nbsp; His words feel like a ton.&nbsp; Like a father to me, I am the scolded son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, what I saw!&nbsp; I would never think about tarnishing his\nancestor-valued legacy.&nbsp;&nbsp; Epiphany\nstrikes again;&nbsp; (d)octor is human\nafterall.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh my!,&nbsp;&nbsp;\nA hopeful young world must never hear&#8230;.Perhaps there are too few\nheroes near.&nbsp; A good Doctor never panics\nand always is cool.&nbsp; His predictable\nsmile teach all to say,&nbsp; &#8220;May I\nhelp&nbsp; you?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toxic world, hazardous too, have to\nlive,&nbsp; must stay cool.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Edwin Litts, a Schenectady native, lives with his wife, two sons, guinea pig, and cat.\u00a0 An avid runner, he recently began writing and has been published online with Matter Press.\u00a0 An Army veteran, Ed received an M.S.
