“Breakup Poem” by Shontay Luna

He smiled through his
tombstones and lied.
And the hum fell to
pieces. The pictures of
the left hand wife forever
etched in her mind. She
had enough of his
hornswoggling one too
many times for her liking.
Pain & anger zooning in
her head, what came next
was like lickin’ butter off a
knife. Out and out, to make
tracks. Refusing to spend
the shank of her life in a
whomped-jawed marriage.
And so he is left, stewing
in his own juice.
