“The Welder” by Kathleen Pollock

Grandpa was a welder,
had a gift with high temperatures.
Percolator, always ready to boil.
He laid claim to fame by building
impenetrable fortresses.
They say how you do one thing
is how you do everything;
grandpa was no exception.
His children, precious metals,
his belt, a righteous torch.

Kathleen Pollock is an undergraduate at Utah Tech University. She returning to school have a twenty-year hiatus, renewing her affections with poetry.
