“Chameleons” by Danny Sorby

In its dying moments
A chameleon’s colour
Will flux furiously
In a rainbow of panic
Neurons and electricity
Bursting in ecstasy
As the lights go out

And I am both in awe
And fearful:
Will my own passing
Be so chaotic
Will my own skin
Be so beautiful?
